GO DOWNHILL AT GUNUNG LAMBAK

glk trail1

You'll just love it going downhill at Gunung Lambak. That's the only thing on our mind when climbing this though off road. That's what motivates us to reach the 2nd stage of Gunung Lambak.

My post last month was about conquering gunung lambak riding via the road that leads to the microwave tower. That route is tough and difficult, but it's a tarmac road. It's basically a test of endurance.

But this time around, we climbed through the trail made by trekker that visited this great place almost every day. Some portion of the trail is a single track. It's a tactical trail caused you got to maneuver your bike through steep slops, big tress's root crossing the trail, small trees along the trail, and bumpy and uneven surface. And it was a long climb starting from the moment we crossed the Gunung Lambak's Eco Resort's entrance. And not only that, right after we left the resort area, we had to lift up our bikes for a couple of meters, caused that portion is not ride able. Well, it was all right, considering all this while we ride our bikes!!!!

I've been dreaming to ride at this trail a couple of months back when I took my family doing jungle trekking here. I knew, it's possible to ride but some how, they did not believe me until today.

We planned to check out the other trail that also leads to Gunung Lambak soon. If we able to find and ride at that trail wow...we have a complete loop or trail for Gunung Lambak. I am so excited about it caused we can claim and mark it as our club's trail.

The pictures here are not so sharp and clear...but that's the best I could share with....

Kluang MTB Fun Ride 09’ – The Real Fun

The day was just perfect to really have a good and enjoyable ride. Seeing riders coming in from as far as Melaka and Singapore, really pump up our club to organize this kind of event in the future.

We were a bit surprised when our registration team informed that 117 riders registered that morning. The ride that we initially planned for closed friends/riders became a big event for a club that is only active with 8 riders.

I could only get a few comments from the riders caused I was given the responsibility of managing any problem facing the riders during their ride. So most of the time I was on my bike following them and assisting any fatigue riders. But I did get some comment about the trail that they said was not that tough or rugged. They were hoping it could be more off-road all the way from Estate Bukit Benut to Taman Intan. That’s the portion most of the riders had difficulty because they had to deal with hot sun, strong wind and riding with off road tires.

I had to agree with them about the trail for this Fun ride. For us, we named it Fun ride because we wanted riders to enjoy the ride not to torture themselves with long and tiring ride. That’s why we decided to have trail that is not technical but more of testing our endurance.

Anyway, we want to thanks riders from Melaka, Muar, Batu Pahat, Segamat & Singapore and even from Kluang for taking part in this Fun Ride. The local Police for leading the pack and controlling the traffic from Taman Intan to Kampung Rahmat. The management of Bukit Benut Estate for giving the right of way in their estates. Our friends Cikgu Ali and the gang for assisting and marshalling the rides.

We welcome any feedback from riders about anything that related to this Fun ride that you think will do us good in organizing similar events in the future. Just leave your comment in this post and we will get back to you. I will be posting more pictures from this ride….soon….So for the time being, here are some pictures coming from this Fun Ride.

CONQUERING GUNUNG LAMBAK

Kluang Mountain Bike Members at Top of G Lambak

Gunung Lambak is located in Kluang, Johor with its highest peak at around 510m above sea level. Last weekend, our weekend ride was to conquer the second peak of Gunung Lambak which is the location of TM’s microwave tower.

The beauty of riding up Gunung Lambak is that it’s not just the challenge but also the view it could offer when you reach the peak. You could see toward Jalan Mersing and also Jalan Gunung Lambak. You will appreciate more if you could reach there early in the morning when the sun is just about to rise.

When riding up a mountain, you just got to go at your own pace. Slowly but constantly paddling your bike. The road towards the top is not difficult to handle. It’s just like our normal road. Only at one portion of about 50m where the road is badly damaged. I struggled a bit when reaching this point because my legs started feeling tired and I was beginning to feel breathless.

If you could pass that stage, you woulf face a steep and long climb of about 200m. For me, that was the hardest part of the climb caused it was very very hard to control my breathing even though my legs were strong enough to carry me to the top.

Anyway, we all managed to reach the top either with riding our bike or the other way around. Of course, brother Ahmad was first caused he took off early!!....cheater....!!!!!

And I don’t have to tell you about thrill of doing the downhill. It was a breeezeee……. speed was closed to 50km/h.

The climb was a short one but you really sweat when you get to the top. With beautiful scenery to treat your eyes, plus soaking sweat body to flush away all the toxic in your body, plus cruising downhill at motorcycle's speed, you will always want to have this ride as your weekend climb.

We arrived at Machap town around 0950 and quickly got ourselves refilled. The ride near Kg Rahmat was a challenge for every rider. We had to overcome seven small and medium hills until a flat off-road when entering the estate. After that, the ride was a breeze....

We called it the 'O...La....La....' ride caused it's more of a social or weekend ride. It's a get together with members to know how's everybody's doing. It's not a race or anything similar to that. The most important thing is, everybody enjoys the scenery and the ride.
